The inspiration for Longfor Dwell Realm came from a thorough study of the site and the surrounding mountainous landscape. Xin Wu and the design team conducted extensive research and exploration to understand the local living culture and incorporate it into the design. The result is a harmonious blend of organic and mechanical elements, creating a seamless integration with the natural surroundings.
One of the standout features of Longfor Dwell Realm is the use of crosswise decorative lines that support the courtyards, resembling strong arms embracing the space. The transformation between organic and mechanical elements is smooth and almost indistinguishable. The building's entrance and the cornices that continue from the lower parts add complexity and a touch of local style.
In terms of design realization, the facade of Longfor Dwell Realm is a testament to the designer's creativity. Horizontal and vertical components are woven together, creating a rhythmic pattern that enhances the white aluminum plates of varying lengths. Transparent curtain walls are embedded within these delicate lines, resembling a series of transparent boxes. The use of crosswise lines also shapes the hallway and Chinese roofing cornices, adding a unique touch to the overall design.
Longfor Dwell Realm covers a total area of 75,032 square meters, offering ample space for residents to enjoy. The designers prioritized the introduction of green spaces, ensuring that every family has their own individual sky garden. By studying the formula of the cover earth, the designers determined a minimum depth of 600 millimeters of soil above the concrete roofing slabs, allowing for the inclusion of various plants and creating a vibrant environment.
The design of Longfor Dwell Realm focuses on creating a connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Fully foldable doors in each room allow residents to seamlessly transition between the interior and the courtyard, blurring the boundaries between artificial and natural elements.
The project commenced in October 2017 and was completed in January 2020 in Chongqing, China. Throughout the design process, Xin Wu and the team conducted extensive research and collaborated closely with all parties involved to ensure the successful realization of the design.
Longfor Dwell Realm has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2020, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category. This award celebrates designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
Longfor Dwell Realm is a testament to Xin Wu's innovative approach to residential design. With its unique features, seamless integration with nature, and attention to detail, this project sets a new standard for Chinese residential architecture.
